Recruiting for Summer 2027 software engineering and quant development internships

Why software

I've loved solving problems since I was a kid, starting with the Rubik's cube my mom introduced me to. I found programming in 7th grade and have been writing code ever since. What I still enjoy most is finding a problem and working through the steps to fix it.

At Humana, I worked on a Databricks pipeline that processes about 35 million member records a day.1 Databricks, medallion architecture (bronze, silver, gold layers), Python. Software Engineering Intern, May 2026 – Aug 2026. It was written a long time ago and had built up a lot of technical debt, so the team wanted that section rewritten, refactored, and optimized. It was also one of the first projects the team did with AI assistance.2 Used Claude Code throughout the refactor.

The best part was the people. In school, almost everyone I've worked with has been my age, so we were all learning from the ground up together. At Humana, I worked every day with engineers who had years more experience than me, and I got to learn from their stories while building software for the company.

Why quant dev

I started investing in the stock market in 7th grade, the same year I found programming. In the spring of 10th grade I discovered trading, and I've been at it for a few years now, though not consistently at first. Today I trade micro equity index futures during the New York open through a funded prop firm account.3 MES and MNQ, roughly 9:30 to 11:00 AM ET.

Eventually the two hobbies started to overlap. I built Folia to analyze my portfolio on metrics like diversification, and I built Ledge because I wanted a trading journal I could customize more than the ones already out there.4 Folia: client-side JavaScript with Tesseract.js OCR, no backend. Ledge: React, TypeScript, Express, SQLite.

Journaling changed how I look at my trades. I started reviewing them more analytically, looking for patterns in what I was doing and for ways to improve my strategy and workflow.

Programming and the stock market have always been my two favorite hobbies. Once I learned what quant dev actually was, I realized it's essentially a combination of the two, which is exactly the kind of work I want to be doing.

Software Engineering Intern, Humana

  • Led an end-to-end refactor of a production Databricks pipeline across all three layers of a medallion architecture, processing 35M member demographic records daily
  • Replaced unstructured logging with a centralized observability pattern and applied consistent exception handling across services
  • Decoupled business logic from notebook orchestration and authored internal documentation defining the pipeline’s architecture and coding conventions

Databricks, Python

Web Development Intern, ASCENDtials

  • Redesigned the volunteer onboarding and recruitment flow for a nonprofit serving community wellness programs, improving application clarity and conversion
  • Integrated automation tools to centralize applicant tracking, cutting manual admin work
  • Built and customized WordPress/Elementor pages to improve branding, navigation, and site performance

WordPress, Elementor

AI Intern, Generative AI MVP

  • Built an NLP model on a 3-person team that replicates a user’s writing style from X and Reddit posts
  • Managed weekly deliverables and presented the final model to the company CEO
  • Worked in an agile workflow with daily standups and weekly PM check-ins

Python, Google Colab, GitHub

Languages: Python, Java, C/C++, C#, JavaScript · Tools: Databricks, TensorFlow, NumPy, Pandas, Unity, Git

Ledge

A trade journal for futures that I built because the existing ones weren't customizable enough.

  • Full-stack app with a dashboard, trade log, strategy definitions, and a custom tag system for setups and mistakes
  • Charts of performance by strategy and tag to spot patterns across trades

React, TypeScript, Vite, Tailwind, Recharts, Node.js, Express, SQLite

Humana Resolve

Built with a team of 5 at the Humana Hackathon: a multi-agent assistant with a voice interface that answers healthcare member questions about claims, benefits, and coverage.

  • Root orchestrator routes each request to specialized agents for claims, benefits, privacy (Release of Information), and compliance, then combines their results into one plain-language answer
  • Voice interface: browser audio is transcribed with Google Cloud Speech-to-Text, and replies are read back with edge-tts

Python, Google Agent Development Kit, Gemini 2.5 Flash, FastAPI, Google Cloud Speech-to-Text, edge-tts

Training for my first triathlon. Finished the San Francisco Marathon and the Brooklyn Half.
